Yesterday I wrote a Blueprint for Saving Democracy, and today, I am going to try to organize my posts to illustrate the components of my blueprint. This is a work-in-progress, so I appreciate all feedback. "Democrats" are elected officials, government agencies, labor unions, and non-profits. "Grassroots" are individuals, political organizing groups, and informal groups. "Disloyal Opposition" are Republicans, conservatives, business interests, and other interests more typically aligned with the GOP agenda.

The topics are listed according to type of action and actor as described in this post. This is a crowd-sourced effort, so if you come across a news item or call to action that you think we should include, please complete this form. Thank you to everyone who has contributed so far. Some links will require subscriptions.

USIP files lawsuit against DOGE and Trump

From Just Security's Litigation Tracker

  • Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council v. Department of Agriculture: "Overview: Multiple nonprofits sued multiple federal agencies, including the Department of Agriculture, Department of Energy, Department of the Interior, and the Environmental Protection Agency, among others, to challenge an Executive Order requiring a pause of funding appropriated through the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 (IRA) or the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA). The lawsuit argues that the wholesale freeze of funding violates federal law, and the nonprofits ask the court to bar the agencies from continuing to pause funding and to disburse funding that was previously frozen."
  • AFGE v. OPM ("The Alsup case"): The Ninth Circuit has denied the government's motion for a stay of the order in the lower court.
  • JGG v. Trump: "In an emergency hearing on Mar. 15, Chief Judge James Boasberg, first ruling from the bench, certified the class as "all noncitizens in U.S. custody who are subject to the March 15, 2025 Presidential Proclamation," and he granted the request for a temporary restraining order." The government has filed a Notice of Appeal in the DC Circuit.
