Pushback 52
It's hard to read the nosedive of the stock markets as a good sign, but it is evidence that Trump's tariffs are widely unpopular in an industry that either supported him or thought he was bluffing. Investors lost more than $2 trillion in value. This will be remembered as a historically bad day, or worse, the first day of a historically bad economy. If you've been wondering when you should protest, this weekend is a good time to start.
In actual good news: the news coverage of the Hands Off! protests is starting before the protests, which means if they meet or exceed expectations, it will be big news. So far, there are 26 protests planned in New Jersey and 45 protests in Florida (see below). April 5 could also be a historic day.
The topics are listed according to the type of action and actor as described in this post. "Democrats" are elected officials, government agencies, unions, and non-profits. "Grassroots" are individuals, political organizing groups, and informal groups. "Disloyal Opposition" are Republicans, conservatives, business interests, and other interests more typically aligned with the GOP agenda.
This is a crowd-sourced effort, so if you come across a news item or call to action that you think we should include, please email pushback.rebuild at gmail dot com. Thank you to everyone who has contributed so far. Some links will require subscriptions.
