Pushback 76

I have something I want to say about Joe Biden and Original Sin, the recent book that was published about his diminished capacity while president. People (Democrats, social media users) are angry that this book is calling out Biden's "disastrous decision" to run again. It's in the past! We face a huge threat from Trump! He knew Kamala couldn't win!

That attitude is wrong. Now is the perfect time to evaluate what went wrong, identify who enabled the secrecy about his condition, what systems should have been in place to prevent this (but weren't). The reason it's the perfect time is because we are still very far from the midterms and next primary. The full forensic review should be complete before the Democrats need to "unify" again.

The other reason it's the perfect time: Gerry Connolly just died. He is the FOURTH member of Congress from the Democratic Party who has died this year. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was muscled out of heading the Oversight Committee by Nancy Pelosi so that Connolly could hold the chair. And now? Not doing much oversight. Those four seats, if they were filled by younger members, would significantly narrow the Republican advantage in the House. Now, a few sit empty, doing nothing for their constituents or the party.

If the Democratic Party ever intends to govern again, they need to evaluate and act on the problem of the gerontocracy ruling this party.
